The most significant event in any person’s life could certainly be his/her wedding. But it does not mean that any couple specially the bride has to spend each and every hour worrying about it, because too much worrying could end up with a nervous breakdown for a bride on her wedding day !
Below are some tips to a bride on how to minimize the stress when planning her wedding.
1. To get all the help you need, also if your budget allows, hire a wedding planner who knows the ‘ins’ and ‘outs’ of planning a wedding. If you do not have the money to spare, seek help from family and friends and assign important tasks especially during the day of the wedding and make sure that you assign them ahead of time.
2. To be organized with all your ‘to do’s’ write down everything, assigning each one a target completion dates (allowing some buffer) and timelines. Thereafter, mark the tasks that get completed and add new ones that come up. Be mindful to avoid making major changes to your plan, a couple of months before the wedding.
3. You should avoid straying from your schedule.
4. Prioritize the most important things, ie. selecting a date /alternate date, selecting a wedding planner, making the necessary ceremony and reception venue reservations.
5. After you set the budget, you should stick to it.
6. When selecting your vendors, you should pick the ones that have been in the business for a good number of years and those with good track records.
7. You have to agree on the details and the terms with vendors and put them in writing. If there are any changes, should be discussed and agreed to and reflect in the document.
8. Leave everything to your wedding planner to work out on behalf of you.
9. Take some time off from the preparation, ie. do something to help you relax and recharge.
10. Call each of the vendors prior to the wedding and review with them the important details, the date, the time and the location.
If you do not have a wedding planner assign someone to be in charge of the task and to co-ordinate with the vendors on your wedding day, giving him/her contact information of your vendors.
The final and the most important advice for the bride is to Learn to compromise as sometimes things do not go the way she wants to. So, DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF!
